Quitting a Retail Job
Friday, July 29th, 2011Many believe that all they need to do is stop showing up to retail jobs in order to properly quit. This is far from the case; there is a way to quit this job. Type a letter of resignation. This may seem like a step which should be done with the much higher paying positions than retail, but it is not. It shows your employer that you do respect them enough to quit the proper way.Write the last day that you plan on working there. This leaves no questions as to when the employer will have to stop scheduling you. This date needs to be at least two weeks from the day you plan to address your desire to quit the job with the supervisor. Set up a time for you to sit and talk with the job supervisor off of the sales floor. Privacy is important when you address the desire to quit. Thank your supervisor for the opportunity, but tell her it is time to move on. Give your supervisor your letter outlining the desire to quit.
